The Commonwealth of The Bahamas celebrated Friday July 10, 2019, the 46th anniversary of its independence. The holiday marks the day when the Bahamas became an independent nation on July 10, 1973, breaking from the United Kingdom. In Washington, the country’s ambassador to the United States Sidney Collie celebrated the event with bahamas’ nationals, along with guests from several countries, at Intercontinental.
